Last month, I published the photographs we took at the New Orleans wedding of Elizabeth & Dickson. I knew we had created some very special & powerful images. Well, the results of the latest international photography contest sponsored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) are in and we received 2nd Place in the Emotion category! 

The WPJA is a “highly-screened, critical organization…” according to their website, and “less than 5% of wedding photographers out there qualify for membership.” So, I’m flattered at being recognized [ again! ] by the WPJA.

The award-winning photograph of Elizabeth & Dickson was taken from the front seat of a vintage Rolls Royce on the way to the reception. Just married. Truly happy!

 
Winning images in this category alone were submitted by WPJA member photographers all over the United States and internationally (Sweden and Singapore).

JUDGES COMMENTS: I like that the photographer is so close to the couple yet they are completely unselfconscious and natural. It is clear that the woman is so thrilled to be marrying this man. I like the expressions on both their faces. The photographer did a great job of capturing their joy and the photo makes me happy for them.
